Brevard County, FL – Deputies in Brevard County have arrested a man accused of a violent home invasion and sexual battery after an alleged attack on a woman who was moving out of her residence.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on January 5 when the victim fled to a neighbor’s home begging for help. Deputies say the woman reported that a man had been lurking near her apartment for several days before rushing inside, holding her at knifepoint, and sexually assaulting her.

The suspect, identified as Kelvin Johnson, allegedly stole the victim’s phone and car keys before fleeing. Surveillance footage from the area helped investigators identify Johnson, leading to a no-bond warrant signed by Judge Charlie Crawford.

Members of the GAMEOVER Task Force located and arrested Johnson later that day. He is now being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex on multiple charges, including sexual battery, home invasion robbery, aggravated assault, and violation of probation, officials said.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey praised the teamwork of deputies, agents, and crime scene investigators, calling the case “one of the most vile acts imaginable” and vowing continued support for the victim.

“This suspect is exactly where he needs to be — behind bars, permanently,” Ivey said in a statement.
