Brevard County, FL – Residents across Brevard County are gearing up for one of the area’s biggest holiday celebrations as the annual “Light Up Viera Christmas Parade” kicks off Saturday night with fireworks and a brand-new parade route.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office announced the update in a statement Thursday, noting that fireworks will begin at 6 p.m., followed immediately by the parade. Organizers say crowds should expect bright lights, holiday music, and family-friendly festivities throughout the evening.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, this year’s route will start at the intersection of Judge Fran Jamieson Way and Stadium Parkway, then proceed down Stadium to Viera Boulevard, ending at Manatee Elementary. Officials say the new route was designed to give spectators more viewing space and clearer access points along the roadway.
Organizers added that the parade will feature high school marching bands, holiday floats, community groups, and the event’s Grand Marshal. Santa Claus will close the procession, a long-running tradition for the Viera parade.
The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging families to arrive early, bring chairs or blankets, and plan for heavier evening traffic near Viera Boulevard, Stadium Parkway, and surrounding neighborhoods as thousands of spectators are expected. Deputies will be positioned along the route to help with road closures and crowd control.
For questions or accessibility information, residents can contact Charity Executive Director Lindsey Deaton-Boane at Lindsey@BCSOCharity.org.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey said he looks forward to welcoming families as Brevard County enters “the most wonderful time of the year.”
