Titusville, FL – Residents across Brevard County will have a chance to take part in one of the region’s most unique holiday traditions Tuesday as the annual “Reverse Christmas Parade” returns with nine toy drop-off stops from Titusville to West Melbourne.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the event—created by its Community Services Team in 2015—aims to ensure every child in the county has a Merry Christmas. Unlike a traditional parade, law enforcement officers travel the route while citizens line the streets to hand off new, unwrapped toys for local families in need.
The parade begins Tuesday, December 3, at 9 a.m. on South Washington Avenue in Titusville before moving south throughout the day. Additional stops include Florida Seafood in Cocoa Beach at 10:30 a.m., North 4th Street in Cocoa Beach at 11:15 a.m., SR 520 and Brevard Avenue in Cocoa Village at 12:45 p.m., and Barton Boulevard in Rockledge at 2:30 p.m. The route later moves into Indialantic at 4:15 p.m. and downtown Melbourne at 5:15 p.m., with final pickups at the West Melbourne Police Department at 5:45 p.m. and Bass Pro Shops at 6:15 p.m.
BCSO said officers from multiple agencies will take part, including the department’s Motor Unit. Sheriff Wayne Ivey noted the event has grown into a countywide holiday staple, with businesses and families setting up along the route with hot chocolate, signs and toys ready to donate.
Residents attending are asked to bring a new, unwrapped child’s gift, which officers will collect directly from curbside as they pass each location.
The sheriff’s office encouraged families to arrive early along their nearest stop, adding that the toys will go directly to local children ahead of Christmas morning.
