Braidwood, IL – Residents in Braidwood and nearby Custer Park are encouraged to support local families this holiday season as the Braidwood Fire Protection District launches its annual Toys for Tots donation drive. The fire district announced that both Station 1 and Station 2 will serve as official drop-off locations for new, unwrapped toys now through December 11.
According to the district, donors can bring gifts to Station 1 at 275 W. Main Street in Braidwood or Station 2 at 21750 IL-113 in Custer Park. Visitors are asked to ring the front doorbell upon arrival to ensure a firefighter or staff member can accept the donation.
The holiday initiative supports the nationwide Toys for Tots program, which distributes gifts to children in need throughout the region. Fire officials say the community’s generosity plays a vital role each winter, helping ensure every child in the area has a present to open during the holiday season.
This year’s drive is expected to see increased need, with local organizers urging residents to donate early if possible. Popular donations typically include board games, dolls, sports equipment, puzzles, books and other new items suitable for children of all ages. The only requirement is that all gifts must be new and unwrapped.
Neighbors, businesses and community groups are encouraged to participate, and the fire district hopes to fill its collection boxes well before the deadline. Donations will be sorted and distributed to families throughout Will County and surrounding areas in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
