Braidwood, IL – Families in Will County are invited to a fun and educational afternoon as the Braidwood Fire Protection District hosts its annual Trucks & Treats Open House this Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Station 1, 275 W. Main St.

According to event organizers, the open house will feature a festive Halloween theme with vendors, a food truck, face painting, and a bounce house for kids. Costumes are encouraged, and a Fire & Rescue demonstration is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Attendees can also tour fire apparatus, meet local firefighters, and learn about emergency preparedness.

The Braidwood Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) will be present to hand out disaster preparedness starter kits and hold a raffle for two NOAA weather radios, emphasizing safety awareness ahead of the winter season.

The free event aims to connect residents with first responders while promoting community readiness in a family-friendly setting. Local favorites such as The Grill’s Taco Truck and Reed-Custer High School face painters will also participate.

Organizers say the open house offers both entertainment and education for residents of all ages. “It’s a great opportunity for families to see what we do and how to stay safe,” the district said in a post.
