Bourbonnais, IL – A local Army combat veteran received a $5,000 grant Tuesday to assist with housing-related expenses as part of a national veterans support initiative.

Charles Chambers Jr., a Bourbonnais resident and U.S. Army veteran, was presented with the check Feb. 10 outside his home through InHouse’s Help on the Homefront campaign. According to organizers, the initiative provides direct financial assistance to veterans facing housing-related challenges.

The check was presented by InHouse representative and Iraq War veteran Donnie Spurlock during a morning ceremony. Representatives said the program aims to ease financial burdens for former service members adjusting to civilian life.

InHouse’s Help on the Homefront campaign is designed to recognize veterans and provide practical support, including assistance with rent, mortgage payments and other housing expenses.

Organizers did not release additional details about Chambers’ service record or the specific housing need addressed by the grant but said the award is part of a broader effort to support veterans nationwide.

Community-based assistance programs like this can be especially meaningful for younger veterans transitioning into the workforce or managing family housing costs.

Officials said additional information about the initiative and future awards is available through InHouse representatives.
