Bourbonnais, IL – Bourbonnais students aiming for college or vocational training can now apply for local scholarships worth $500, with applications open until April 30, 2025.
According to the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival, Inc., four scholarships are available this year: the Friendship Scholarship, Mianna Malone Scholarship, Patte Thompson Scholarship, and Lee Braford Scholarship. Each offers a $500 stipend and targets individuals demonstrating academic commitment, community service, or both. Applications must be printed, completed in full, and postmarked no later than April 30.
The Friendship, Thompson, and Malone scholarships are open to anyone enrolling or enrolled in college or vocational training. The Malone and Braford awards prioritize students with a proven dedication to community service. The Braford Scholarship is specifically reserved for high school seniors.
Applicants are encouraged to highlight service projects, include one letter of recommendation, and submit a 150–300-word essay detailing their involvement. Preference may be given to Kankakee County residents or psychology majors, especially for the Mianna Malone Scholarship.
