Bourbonnais, IL – Families planning to attend Miracle at the Grove this Sunday will want to note an important location change as dangerously cold temperatures move into the area.

According to the Village of Bourbonnais, Miracle at the Grove will now take place entirely indoors at the Bourbonnais Municipal Center, located at 700 Main St. NW, on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The change comes as forecasters call for single-digit temperatures and below-zero wind chills across Kankakee County.

Village officials say the decision was made to keep residents safe and comfortable while still offering a festive holiday experience. While the main celebration will continue, several outdoor attractions have been canceled.

All outdoor activities — including the Miracle Market craft vendors, sleigh rides, Merry the Reindeer, skating at The Rink (scheduled for December 14 only), and outdoor food and beverage vendors — have been canceled for this year.

Despite the changes, organizers say the indoor “Mini Miracle” will still feature many popular activities families look forward to each season.

Guests attending the indoor event can enjoy free photos with Santa, his elf, Mrs. Claus, and a special Dr. Seuss character. Free face painting will be offered by the BBCHS Arts Honor Society, along with hot cocoa, Christmas carols, and a Merry Coloring Contest open to all ages.

Live performances are also scheduled throughout the afternoon. The River Valley Choral Ensemble will perform from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., followed by the Kankakee Valley Theatre Association from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m.

Village officials thanked sponsors and community partners for helping make the event possible despite the weather-related changes.
