BOURBONNAIS, IL – The Bourbonnais Friendship Festival, a beloved annual event, will take place this summer, despite ongoing construction for the Community Campus project.

The festival will be held at its normal location, and Mayor Paul Schore assures residents that “most all the major things we have for the festival every year will still go on.”
The festival is a time-honored tradition in Bourbonnais, drawing in crowds of visitors and locals alike with its fun-filled events, live music, and delicious food. While many were worried that the ongoing construction for the Community Campus would interfere with the festival’s plans, Mayor Schore announced on Monday night that everything is on track and the event will proceed as planned.
“Things will get picked up and rearranged enough to be able to do the festival,” said Schore at the Regular Village Board Meeting. “Soon as the festival is over with, construction will start back up again, and we’ll get that project finished.”
Two resolutions also passed last night to close certain streets in the Village for the Friendship Festival Children’s Parade and Grand Parade, ensuring the festival’s smooth operation.
The ongoing construction is part of the Village’s efforts to promote new activity and vitality within its central core. The Community Campus project, which is set to open in 2024, aims to offer a range of activities and events for residents, businesses, and visitors of all ages.
