Boulder County, CO – A man linked to a Denver domestic violence case was arrested Friday afternoon following a string of knife-point carjackings that spanned multiple Colorado counties, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the incident began around 4:30 p.m. Thursday near the Caribou Townsite Trailhead, west of Nederland. According to officials, the suspect — identified as 24-year-old Andres Camilo Angarita Olaya — allegedly kidnapped a woman in Denver before driving her to the mountain trailhead. When he briefly stepped away, the victim escaped and sought help from people nearby.

As those community members attempted to leave the area with the victim, the suspect allegedly returned and later carjacked a Toyota 4Runner at knife point. A pursuit followed, stretching into Gilpin County and ending near Black Hawk, where the suspect fled on foot, deputies said.

The next morning, a man matching the same description reportedly carjacked another vehicle outside the Lady Luck Casino in Black Hawk. The victim suffered minor injuries.

Investigators later tracked the suspect to Federal Heights, where he was arrested without incident around 2 p.m. Friday. He faces multiple felony charges, including kidnapping, sexual assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and motor vehicle theft.

Authorities say the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office, and Black Hawk Police Department are coordinating the investigation with help from the U.S. Marshals Service.
