Boston, Mass. – Dry and pleasant conditions will continue across Massachusetts through Tuesday, but changes arrive by midweek as a weak low-pressure system tracks south of New England.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, the best chance for rain comes late Wednesday into Thursday morning, with the greatest potential along the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands. Locations such as New Bedford, Hyannis, and Nantucket could see scattered showers, while inland areas like Worcester and Lowell are expected to remain mostly dry with lower rain chances.

The midweek system is not expected to bring widespread heavy rainfall, but commuters along Route 6, I-195, and ferry routes to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket may face brief wet travel periods. Residents are encouraged to keep umbrellas handy and allow extra time for coastal travel late Wednesday.

High pressure quickly rebuilds Thursday night into Friday, setting up another stretch of dry weather for the state heading into the weekend. Outdoor events and school activities should benefit from clear skies and mild temperatures Friday through Sunday.

More updates are expected as the low-pressure system nears, with additional advisories possible for South Coast communities.
