Boston, Massachusetts – A warm, mostly dry Tuesday is on tap across Massachusetts, but western areas could see scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms that may impact travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, temperatures will peak in the low to mid-80s across most of the state, with coastal cities like Boston, Hyannis, and Provincetown topping out in the upper 70s due to ocean influence. Areas like Springfield, Greenfield, and Pittsfield could hit 87°F before scattered storms develop later in the day.

The greatest chance of rain lies west of Worcester, where brief downpours and isolated lightning are possible between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. No widespread severe weather is expected, but drivers in Berkshire and Hampden counties should remain alert for wet roads and reduced visibility during the evening commute.

Residents planning to be outdoors should monitor radar updates and have shelter options ready, particularly in western Massachusetts. Meanwhile, Cape Cod and the Islands can expect comfortable conditions with highs in the upper 70s and breezy winds off the Atlantic.

Any storm activity should clear by late evening, with drier air settling back in overnight. No weather alerts are currently in effect, but updates are possible if storm activity intensifies.
