Boston, MA – A quiet and dry start to the week will give way to a stormier pattern by late week, with rain, strong winds, and a sharp temperature swing expected across eastern Massachusetts.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, Monday remains cool but calm, with daytime highs generally ranging from 29 to 35 degrees across the city and surrounding communities. Conditions improve Tuesday and Wednesday, with mainly sunny skies and a gradual warmup.

Highs Tuesday are expected to remain in the low to mid-30s, followed by a noticeable jump Wednesday as temperatures climb into the 40 to 45 degree range. Wednesday is also expected to be breezy, though dry conditions will persist through most of the day.

The pattern shifts Thursday as milder air moves into the region ahead of an approaching cold front. Forecasters say highs Thursday could reach between 45 and 50 degrees, with rain showers and strong, gusty winds developing late in the afternoon and evening. Wind gusts could be strong enough to impact travel and cause minor disruptions, particularly in coastal and elevated areas.

Rain and gusty winds are expected to continue into Friday, with mild conditions early in the day before a cold front pushes through. Behind the front, colder air arrives later Friday, leading to falling temperatures and blustery conditions.

By Saturday, drier weather returns, but temperatures are forecast to drop back into the low to mid-30s, closer to seasonal norms.

Officials advise residents to use the early part of the week to prepare for changing conditions later on, especially those with travel or outdoor plans Thursday night or Friday. Drivers should remain alert for wet roads and strong crosswinds during the late-week system.
