Boston, Massachusetts – A sharp temperature split is unfolding across Massachusetts today, with inland areas warming toward 70 degrees while strong coastal winds hold shoreline communities in the low to mid-50s through the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, southwest winds will remain gusty throughout the day, especially along the immediate south coast and Cape Cod. These winds are limiting warming despite mostly sunny skies, creating a noticeable contrast between inland cities and coastal towns.

Communities including Worcester and Springfield are expected to see highs climb into the mid to upper 60s, with a few spots nearing 70 degrees. Meanwhile, Boston, Plymouth, and areas along the South Shore and Cape Cod will stay significantly cooler, with temperatures hovering between 50 and 55 degrees due to the persistent onshore influence.

Drivers along I-95 and Route 6 may encounter crosswinds at times, particularly on bridges and exposed roadways. Boaters and beachgoers should also be aware of choppy conditions along the coastline.

The breezy pattern will ease later tonight, but cooler air near the coast may linger into the evening. More seasonal and stable conditions are expected to continue into the weekend, though additional updates will follow if wind impacts increase.
