Boston, MA – Residents across Massachusetts should brace for gusty winds Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the strongest gusts reaching 35–40 mph in coastal and inland areas, according to the National Weather Service in Boston.
The agency reports that the windiest period will occur between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., particularly along the eastern coast and Cape Cod, before winds gradually ease overnight. Boston, Hyannis, and Gloucester could see the most persistent gusts, while interior cities such as Worcester and Springfield may experience gusts between 25 and 35 mph.
Though the winds will weaken by Wednesday, forecasters say blustery conditions will continue through midweek due to a series of upper-level disturbances moving across New England. Temperatures will remain seasonable, but the combination of cool air and wind may make it feel several degrees colder at times.
The NWS advises residents to secure outdoor items, including patio furniture, decorations, and trash bins, to prevent damage or debris hazards. Motorists driving high-profile vehicles should also use caution, especially on bridges and open highways.
Calmer and drier weather is expected by Thursday, bringing more typical mid-November conditions to the region.
