Wakefield, Massachusetts – Showers and dense patchy fog will blanket Wakefield and surrounding communities overnight, making for slippery roads and limited visibility into early Friday morning. Residents should prepare for a damp start, with the rain expected to ease up as the morning commute begins.

According to the National Weather Service, Wakefield faces a 70% chance of rain overnight, with temperatures hovering near 61°F and northeast winds around 8 mph. Patchy fog may drop visibility to half a mile or less, especially along Route 128 and local surface streets. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and watch for slick conditions between midnight and 7 a.m.

By late Friday morning, skies will clear with temperatures reaching a comfortable 79°F. The weekend promises much drier weather, with sunny skies and highs near 85°F on Sunday. Southbound travelers should expect a gradual warm-up, while outdoor plans Saturday and Sunday are likely to be uninterrupted by rain.

Residents are advised to charge mobile devices in case of isolated outages, check local alerts, and avoid non-essential travel during the heaviest rain and fog overnight. This wet spell marks one of the more humid starts to July in recent years, but conditions are expected to stabilize through early next week.

Another round of showers is unlikely before Thursday. Updates will be posted if additional advisories are issued.
