Boston, Massachusetts – Drivers across the Boston area could face slick and snow-covered roads at multiple points this weekend as two separate snow events move through eastern Massachusetts.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, light snow is expected today with accumulations generally on the lower end for the city, while higher totals of 1 to 4 inches are more likely across western and north-central Massachusetts. Even lighter snowfall in Boston may still create slippery conditions on untreated roads, bridges, and ramps, especially during peak travel hours.

A second, more impactful round of snow is expected Sunday into Sunday night. This system is forecast to bring more widespread accumulation across eastern Massachusetts, including the Boston metro area. Snow totals of 1 to 4 inches are possible, with the highest amounts expected closer to the coast and into eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Roadways such as Interstate 93, the Massachusetts Turnpike, Route 1, and Route 128 could become snow-covered at times Sunday, with reduced visibility and slick conditions developing quickly during heavier snow bands. Secondary roads and neighborhood streets may remain untreated for longer periods.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of steady snowfall. Conditions are expected to improve late Sunday night, though lingering slick spots may persist into early Monday. Additional updates or advisories may be issued as the weekend snow events continue to unfold.
