Boston, Mass. – A bright, sunny Monday across eastern Massachusetts will give way to unsettled weather by Tuesday night as showers and thunderstorms move into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, Monday will stay mostly sunny with highs in the mid-70s before clouds increase Tuesday. A slight chance of showers begins late Tuesday afternoon, with the storm threat peaking Tuesday night. Some thunderstorms could bring brief downpours between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., before showers linger into early Wednesday.

Temperatures will climb near 83 degrees Tuesday afternoon before dipping into the low 60s overnight. Commuters in Boston, Worcester, and along I-95 should expect slower travel Wednesday morning as scattered showers continue. Northeast winds at 10 mph will keep Wednesday’s highs around 70 degrees, a noticeable drop from earlier in the week.

Showers remain possible Wednesday night through Thursday with cooler daytime highs staying in the upper 60s. While widespread flooding is not expected, heavier downpours in isolated storms could lead to ponding on roads and brief visibility issues for drivers.

Residents are advised to keep rain gear handy and allow extra time for midweek travel. Additional showers may continue off and on through next weekend.
