Boston, MA – Lingering morning showers are slowly moving out of eastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and the Islands, paving the way for a much warmer and drier afternoon across southern New England. Sunshine is already breaking through west of Worcester, where highs are expected to climb into the low 80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, skies will continue to clear from west to east through the day, although Cape Cod and Nantucket may see clouds and drizzle hang on longer before conditions brighten late this afternoon.

Inland cities including Springfield, Worcester, and Fitchburg should see highs in the upper 70s to low 80s under mostly sunny skies. Along the South Shore, Boston will warm into the upper 70s with light winds and comfortable humidity levels. Meanwhile, Provincetown and Hyannis will remain cooler, stuck in the mid-70s until skies clear.

Drivers should expect wet roadways early in the day, particularly along Route 6 on the Cape, but drying conditions will make for smooth evening commutes. Beachgoers and boaters along Cape Cod Bay should use caution this morning as low visibility and patchy fog remain possible.

Clearing skies and warm weather will continue through midweek, though forecasters caution another round of unsettled weather may return by the weekend.
