Boston, MA – A calm and sunny fall day will give way to another quick round of showers late tonight across eastern Massachusetts as a new frontal system sweeps through the region. After the overnight rain, cooler and drier air will move in by Wednesday afternoon, ushering in several days of pleasant, seasonable weather through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service office in Boston, southwest winds will strengthen ahead of the front, with gusts of 20 to 25 mph possible this evening. Rain will arrive between midnight and early Wednesday morning, tapering by mid-morning as skies gradually clear from west to east. Morning commuters along I-90 and Route 128 should plan for wet roads and reduced visibility through daybreak.

Temperatures will remain mild tonight, with lows in the upper 40s to mid-50s, before cooling into the lower 60s Wednesday afternoon. According to forecasters, Thursday and Friday will feature mostly dry conditions, breezy winds, and peeks of sunshine as highs settle near 60 degrees—typical for late October.

By Saturday, another push of cool air will bring highs only in the mid- to upper 50s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will ease slightly, creating ideal conditions for outdoor events and late-season foliage viewing across central and western Massachusetts.

The late-week trend marks a shift toward more stable, crisp fall weather as the region moves into the final stretch of October.
