Boston, MA – Drivers across Massachusetts should prepare for cloudy skies and patchy fog Wednesday night, especially in the river valleys and low-lying areas west of Worcester. Roads may be slick in spots as isolated showers continue to move through western MA into the late evening.
According to the National Weather Service Boston, seasonable temperatures will keep overnight lows in the 58-64 degree range across most of the state, with slightly milder conditions near the coast and on Cape Cod. Patchy fog is most likely to develop after midnight, particularly along the Connecticut River Valley and through low-lying stretches of I-91 and Route 2. Showers will be most persistent west of Springfield, but a stray sprinkle can’t be ruled out in Central MA before dawn.
Drivers should use caution and reduce speed if encountering foggy patches. If traveling late, allow extra time for visibility changes and the potential for slick roads in areas that receive showers. Residents in fog-prone valleys should consider leaving extra lights on and avoid unnecessary driving overnight.
Cloudy and mild weather is expected to linger through Thursday morning. More advisories may be issued if fog becomes dense or showers redevelop, so stay alert for updates from NWS Boston.
