Boston, MA – A blustery start to Thursday will gradually give way to calmer conditions and a mix of sun and clouds across Massachusetts, according to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton.

Forecasters report that strong northwest winds early this morning, with gusts up to 40 mph in coastal and elevated areas, will steadily weaken by late morning and afternoon. Despite sunshine returning, temperatures will run slightly below seasonal averages, reaching the upper 40s to mid-50s.

The NWS says conditions will stay dry across southern New England, though the cool breeze will make it feel a few degrees colder through the afternoon. Winds will continue to ease overnight with mostly clear skies and lows dipping into the 30s.

Residents heading out early should be cautious of strong gusts, especially along the coast and Cape Cod, before winds diminish by evening.
