Boston, MA – Seasonable sunshine and cool temperatures are expected across eastern Massachusetts Saturday, followed by a sharp temperature drop Saturday night that could impact early Sunday travel along I-93 and I-95.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, partly sunny skies will dominate Saturday, February 14, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid-30s to near 40 degrees. A light west breeze between 10 and 12 mph will accompany the mild but seasonable conditions.

Communities along I-90 in Worcester, I-91 in Springfield and I-95 through Providence and southeastern Massachusetts will see similar temperatures, generally topping out between 35 and 40 degrees.

Skies will clear Saturday night, allowing temperatures to fall quickly after sunset. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the teens and 20s across much of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Urban centers such as Boston may hold in the low 20s, while inland and higher elevation areas could dip into the mid-to-upper teens.

Drivers heading out late Saturday night or early Sunday morning should be mindful of refreezing on untreated surfaces, especially on bridges and overpasses along I-93, I-90 and secondary roadways. While no precipitation is expected, leftover moisture could freeze as temperatures fall below 32 degrees.

The overall pattern remains quiet through the weekend, with no major storms in the immediate forecast.
