Boston, MA – A calm, cool start to the week across eastern Massachusetts will give way to a powerful late-week storm, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds Thursday night into early Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Boston.
Monday and Tuesday will stay mostly dry and seasonable, with highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s and overnight lows dipping into the upper 20s to 30s inland. Scattered showers are expected to develop near and southeast of I-95 Tuesday into Wednesday.
The main system arrives Thursday into Thursday night, when windswept, heavy rain could produce localized flooding and hazardous travel conditions. Forecasters say the storm may linger into early Friday with a few leftover showers before clearing skies return by afternoon.
Coastal areas could also see nuisance flooding and strong onshore winds as the system moves through.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for wet commutes and potential delays late in the week. Conditions improve heading into the weekend as drier, cooler air moves back in.
