Boston, Massachusetts – Today is Sunday, and an active weather pattern will bring multiple chances for rain or snow across southern New England this week.
According to the US National Weather Service in Boston, temperatures will trend milder compared to recent days, with highs generally reaching the upper 30s to lower 40s in many communities including Boston, Providence and Hartford.
Several systems are expected to move through the region beginning Monday and continuing into late week. Rain chances increase Wednesday, with probabilities reaching 65% to 70% in parts of eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and northern Connecticut. Additional precipitation chances continue Thursday and Friday.
Forecasters say precipitation type remains uncertain at times, particularly across higher terrain. Locations in central and western Massachusetts, including Worcester and areas along Interstate 290 and Interstate 91, have the best potential to see snow or a wintry mix during midweek systems.
Lower elevations near the Interstate 93 and Interstate 95 corridors are more likely to experience rain, given the milder air in place.
Timing details may shift as each system approaches, and snow amounts—if any—will depend on temperature trends and elevation.
Midweek commuters along I-93, I-95 and I-84 should prepare for periods of wet roads and potentially reduced visibility during heavier showers.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as precipitation timing and type become clearer.
