Boston, MA – Strong westerly winds are expected to sweep across southern New England beginning Friday afternoon, prompting a Wind Advisory from 2 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Saturday, according to the US National Weather Service Boston MA.
Forecasters report sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph, with peak gusts approaching 50 mph possible across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and northern Connecticut. The strongest winds are expected late Friday evening into the overnight hours.
These gusts could lead to downed tree limbs, scattered power outages, and difficult driving conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles and on exposed roadways. Residents are urged to secure outdoor decorations and loose items ahead of the afternoon increase in winds.
Conditions should gradually improve by early Saturday morning as winds ease and temperatures stabilize in the low to mid-50s.
