Boston, Massachusetts – Accumulating snowfall is expected across Boston on Tuesday, with snow developing in the morning hours and continuing into the evening, creating potentially slippery travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, most of the city can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow, particularly areas along and west of Interstate 95. Snowfall amounts are expected to be lower closer to the immediate south coast, where an inch or less is forecast and precipitation may mix with or change to rain.

Forecasters note that Tuesday is shaping up to be one of the busiest travel days of the year, increasing the potential impact of the snowfall. While snowfall rates are not expected to be extreme, steady accumulation during daytime hours could slow traffic and affect road conditions across the region.

The heaviest accumulations are forecast farther inland, including parts of central and western Massachusetts, where localized totals could exceed 3 inches, especially in higher elevations such as the Berkshires. In Boston, snowfall intensity is expected to remain moderate.

Snow is forecast to taper off Tuesday night, with no significant additional accumulation expected overnight.

The timing may affect commuters, students, and holiday travelers, especially during the morning and afternoon travel periods.

Drivers are encouraged to monitor conditions and allow extra time for travel as snow-covered roads develop during the day.
