Boston, MA – Thanksgiving Eve travel across Massachusetts could turn messy as a band of rain moves through the region late Tuesday into Wednesday, raising the risk of slick roads during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, rain will overspread the state from west to east starting Tuesday evening and continue overnight, accompanied by rising temperatures. Scattered showers will persist through Wednesday, keeping roads wet and visibility low, especially during morning and afternoon travel peaks.
High temperatures on Wednesday will climb into the upper 50s and lower 60s across much of the region. Boston and Worcester are expected to reach around 59°F, with Springfield and Providence near 61°F. While snow isn’t a concern, wet pavement and increased traffic volume could cause slowdowns on I-90, I-93, and I-95.
Travelers are urged to allow extra time and use caution, especially during early morning and evening drives. While the mild temperatures may offer a brief break from wintry conditions, additional weather alerts remain possible if rainfall becomes heavier than expected.
