Boston, MA – Snowfall totals across Boston reached 18 to 20 inches by early Monday, creating hazardous travel conditions and ongoing cleanup efforts.
According to the National Weather Service Boston/Norton, snowfall reports collected through 1 a.m. Monday show widespread heavy accumulation across eastern Massachusetts, including Boston and surrounding communities. Multiple observations within the metro area measured totals near or exceeding 18 inches, placing this storm among the more significant snow events of the season.
The National Weather Service said lighter snow is expected to continue through Monday, adding additional accumulation on top of already deep snowpack. While snowfall rates have decreased compared to Sunday, lingering snow may still impact road conditions, especially during the Monday morning commute.
Forecasters noted medium to high confidence in additional accumulation of several inches in parts of eastern Massachusetts through Monday night. Travel impacts remain a concern, with snow-covered secondary roads, reduced visibility at times, and ongoing plowing operations across Boston neighborhoods.
Public transit riders and commuters are advised to allow extra travel time, as snow removal and icy conditions may cause delays. Younger workers and students returning to work or classes Monday may experience slower-than-normal commutes due to narrowed roadways and ongoing cleanup.
Residents are urged to use caution when shoveling, take frequent breaks, and check on neighbors, particularly older adults, as cleanup continues.
Additional snowfall reports and updated accumulation maps are available through the National Weather Service’s official snow report tools.
