Boston, Massachusetts — A coastal storm expected Sunday into Sunday night could bring accumulating snow to Boston if its track shifts closer to the coast.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, forecasters are monitoring two possible storm tracks for late Sunday. A coastal track would increase the likelihood of accumulating snow across much of eastern Massachusetts, including Boston. A farther offshore track would likely keep the region mostly dry, with little to no snow accumulation.
If the storm remains offshore, the National Weather Service said only a brief period of light precipitation would be possible, potentially including snow or a rain/snow mix, with minimal impacts. Under that scenario, any precipitation would be short-lived.
At this time, snow totals have not been finalized due to uncertainty in the storm’s path. Meteorologists emphasized that small shifts in the track could result in significant differences in snowfall amounts along the I-95 corridor and coastal communities.
Forecasters expect higher confidence by Friday morning as newer model data becomes available. Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring official forecasts, especially those with Sunday travel plans or outdoor activities.
While no watches or warnings are in effect yet, early awareness is advised as Sunday evening travel could be impacted if the storm trends closer to the coastline.
This forecast is especially relevant for commuters, students, and service workers, as even modest snow accumulation could affect late weekend and early Monday travel.
