Boone County, IL – A 23-year-old Belvidere man died early Thursday after a car crash on Shaw Road, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the crash occurred around 4:16 a.m. on Shaw Road north of Shaw Mills Lane. Preliminary findings show a 2005 Lexus LS430 was traveling southbound when it left the road while trying to negotiate a curve and struck a tree.
The driver, identified as Juan Paulino, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Belvidere Police Department, Belvidere Fire Department, Boone County District #2 Fire, and the Boone County Coroner assisted at the crash site.
Authorities said the incident remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
