Boise, ID – Idaho residents are in for a sharp weather shift this weekend as temperatures plummet and mountain snow moves in, according to the National Weather Service in Boise.

After a warm, dry, and breezy stretch through Friday, forecasters say conditions will turn cooler and unsettled starting Saturday, October 11. By Sunday, October 12, high temperatures are expected to drop roughly 20 degrees across much of the region, swinging from about 10 degrees above normal to 10 degrees below.

According to the National Weather Service, mountain locations such as Banner Summit, Brundage Mountain, and Sun Valley could see snow as early as Saturday morning, with precipitation probabilities reaching 60–80%. In contrast, valley areas like Boise, Nampa, and Meridian will experience cooler rain showers and breezy conditions, with highs dropping from the upper 70s and low 80s on Friday to the 50s and 60s by Saturday.

Snow levels are expected to lower into the higher mountain passes by Sunday, with continued chances of mixed precipitation through early next week. Forecasters urge drivers heading into central Idaho’s mountain corridors to prepare for slick roads and possible reduced visibility.

Residents across southwest and central Idaho should also plan for fluctuating travel conditions and significant temperature swings over the next several days.
