Boise, ID – Strong winds and rain are expected across southern Idaho on Monday, making for a blustery St. Patrick’s Day. A wind advisory is in effect for Boise, Twin Falls, and Upper Treasure Valley from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with gusts up to 55 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, southwest winds will reach 25-40 mph, strongest near Interstate 84 in the Snake Plain. These gusty conditions could blow down tree limbs, cause power outages, and make driving hazardous for high-profile vehicles. Rain is also expected throughout the day, tapering off by evening.

Monday’s high will be near 51°F, with temperatures cooling into the 30s overnight. Tuesday brings mostly sunny skies and a high of 46°F, offering a brief break from wet conditions.

Looking ahead, spring officially arrives Thursday, bringing milder temperatures and scattered showers. Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 50s. Rain returns Friday, with a chance of snow mixing in at higher elevations.

Drivers on I-84 should prepare for strong crosswinds Monday evening. Secure outdoor objects and use caution while traveling.
