Boise, Idaho –Unseasonable heat is building across southern Idaho this week, and Boise could hit a scorching 94°F by Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a strong ridge of high pressure will push temperatures 10–15 degrees above average across Ada County, beginning Wednesday and intensifying through the weekend. Friday’s high is forecast at 89°F, and Saturday could bring Boise’s hottest day of the year so far. Sunny skies and low humidity increase the risk of grass fires, especially along the I-84 corridor between Boise and Mountain Home.

Cities including Meridian, Eagle, and Nampa will also experience the rapid warmup. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday will reach 80°F and 79°F, respectively, before peaking Saturday. Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activity during peak heat, and prepare for elevated fire danger in dry grassy areas.

No rain is expected through Saturday, but a slight chance of showers returns Sunday night into Monday. A 30% chance of rain Monday may offer temporary relief from the dry stretch, with cooler highs dropping to 74°F.
