Boise, Idaho – Smoky skies and hot temperatures will persist across the Treasure Valley this holiday weekend, with Labor Day expected to bring highs near 96 degrees in Boise. The combination of heat and lingering wildfire smoke could make outdoor plans uncomfortable for residents and visitors.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, patchy smoke will continue today and tonight, with light winds shifting northwest before calming overnight. Afternoon highs will steadily climb, reaching 95 degrees on Sunday and peaking near 96 on Monday. Winds will remain light, offering little relief from stagnant air and smoky haze.

Air quality may be a concern in parts of Ada and Canyon counties, particularly during the afternoon hours when smoke tends to settle. Residents with respiratory issues are encouraged to limit outdoor activity. The hot, dry conditions will also elevate fire danger across southwest Idaho, especially in the foothills and rangelands.

Conditions are expected to hold steady through Tuesday, with highs staying in the mid-90s before easing slightly by midweek. Mostly clear skies will persist overnight, with lows in the mid-60s across the region.

Warnings remain in place for elevated fire risk through Labor Day, and officials advise residents to avoid outdoor burning and to stay hydrated in the heat.
