Boise, ID – Triple-digit heat will grip the Treasure Valley Thursday as temperatures climb to 99°F, accompanied by afternoon wind gusts reaching 22 mph. The combination of heat and wind could elevate wildfire risks and create challenging conditions for outdoor workers and travelers.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, Thursday will start calm before winds shift southwest to northwest at 5 to 9 mph, with occasional gusts up to 22 mph in the afternoon. The hottest hours are expected between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., with urban areas like downtown Boise, Meridian, and Eagle experiencing prolonged heat exposure.

Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and secure loose outdoor items that could be blown by gusts. With vegetation already dry, fire crews are on heightened alert for any ignitions.

This hot and breezy stretch is expected to ease slightly Friday with highs near 91°F, but triple-digit temperatures could return early next week.
