Boise, Idaho – Strong storms are firing across Central Idaho and parts of Northeastern Oregon this afternoon, bringing the threat of 50 mph outflow winds, heavy rainfall, and small hail. Officials are warning that flash flooding on recent burn scars remains a top concern as storms move through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, radar showed scattered storms building by early afternoon Thursday across the Snake River Plain, stretching from Ontario and Weiser down toward Mountain Home and Twin Falls. The agency said storms will continue developing into the evening hours, producing sudden downpours and gusty winds that could quickly reduce visibility on highways including I-84.

Communities near Boise, Emmett, and Ketchum should prepare for possible localized flooding, especially in areas with steep terrain or wildfire damage. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and secure loose outdoor items that could become airborne in strong winds.

The storm threat is expected to persist through Thursday night, with additional advisories possible if storms intensify or move into heavily populated corridors.

Warnings remain in effect through the evening, and residents should stay alert for rapid weather changes.
