Boise, ID – A mix of snow and rain is expected across Boise and surrounding areas Monday, with forecasters warning of slippery and potentially hazardous travel conditions, particularly along SH-55.

According to the National Weather Service, the area will see rain and snow developing Monday morning, with precipitation chances at 90%. Drivers should prepare for snow accumulation at higher elevations, especially along mountain routes like Goose Creek Summit and Smith’s Ferry. Gusty southeast winds up to 20 mph may add to travel difficulties.

By Monday night, temperatures are expected to drop to near freezing at 35 degrees, with rain continuing before gradually tapering off. Tuesday will bring cloudy conditions and cooler temperatures, with highs near 43 degrees.

Travelers along SH-55, a key corridor for Idaho drivers, are advised to allow extra time for their commute and exercise caution on snow-covered and wet roads. Drivers heading to mountain regions should carry chains and check for road condition updates before leaving.

Looking ahead, Wednesday and Thursday will remain mostly cloudy across Boise, with temperatures peaking in the upper 30s to low 40s. Nights will see lows dipping to the high 20s, increasing the chance of freezing conditions.

Residents and travelers should stay updated through local weather advisories and check live road conditions at Idaho 511 for real-time updates.
