Boise, Idaho – Light precipitation is expected across southwest and central Idaho tonight into Wednesday, with rain impacting lower elevations and light snow developing in the mountains near key travel corridors including Interstate 84 and Idaho Highway 21.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, overall precipitation amounts will remain on the low end, with valley locations generally receiving a few hundredths to around one-quarter inch of rain through Wednesday morning. Mountain areas, including locations near McCall, Cascade, and Stanley, may see light snowfall, though significant accumulation is not expected.

Forecasters say the precipitation will be scattered and generally light, but wet roadways may still develop overnight, particularly along I-84 between Boise and Twin Falls, as well as ID-55 and ID-21 leading into higher elevations. Mountain snow may briefly reduce visibility on passes, especially during the late-night and early-morning hours.

Temperatures in the valleys are expected to remain above freezing, limiting any ice concerns. In the mountains, colder temperatures will allow snow to accumulate lightly on grassy and elevated surfaces, though major travel disruptions are not anticipated at this time.

The precipitation is expected to taper off gradually on Wednesday, with lingering showers possible into the afternoon. No winter weather advisories or warnings have been issued, reflecting the limited intensity of the system.

While impacts are expected to be minor, early-morning commuters, freight drivers, and recreational travelers heading into the mountains should remain alert for changing conditions, especially on less-traveled roads and higher passes.

Officials recommend checking the latest road conditions before traveling and allowing extra time when driving in wet or snowy areas.

Additional forecast updates will be issued if precipitation coverage or intensity changes.
