Boise, ID – Boise residents are in for the hottest day of the year so far as temperatures soar to 102°F on Tuesday, with the National Weather Service warning of dangerous heat lasting through sunset. The triple-digit spike follows an already hot Monday and comes before a gradual cooling trend later in the week.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday’s heat will peak between 3 and 6 p.m., with calm conditions and little cloud cover offering no break from the sun. Vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, and outdoor workers, face the greatest risk of heat-related illness. Areas across Ada County, including downtown Boise, Meridian, and Eagle, should limit strenuous activity during the hottest hours and drink plenty of water.
After Tuesday’s extreme heat, Wednesday will still be hot at 98°F but will begin a cooling slide into the upper 80s by Saturday. Overnight lows remain warm in the upper 60s through midweek, slowing nighttime cooling and adding to heat stress risk.
This week’s heat wave is brief but intense, and officials urge residents to check on neighbors, keep pets indoors, and never leave children in vehicles. Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday night, with the next update expected Tuesday afternoon.
