Duluth, MN – An Arctic blast will grip the region this weekend, with wind chills dropping to dangerous levels as low as -30°F.

Sunday will bring continued cold weather, with highs near 13°F and blustery northwest winds gusting up to 25 mph. Travelers along Highway 61 and those spending time outdoors should take precautions against frostbite and hypothermia.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday night will remain clear but frigid, with lows near -3°F and wind chills making it feel significantly colder. Cold Weather Advisories remain in effect through Monday morning for Duluth and the surrounding Northland areas.

The week ahead will see slightly warmer conditions, though temperatures are forecast to stay below freezing. Monday will feature sunny skies and a high near 17°F, but winds will still create a bitter chill. By Tuesday, highs may reach 12°F with partly cloudy skies, but nighttime temperatures will plunge again to near -2°F.

Residents should dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit outdoor activity to prevent cold-related illnesses. Pets should also remain indoors as much as possible during these extreme conditions.

The extended forecast offers a glimmer of relief later in the week. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday may climb to the low teens, with sunny conditions expected. However, sub-zero wind chills may still pose risks during early mornings and late evenings.
