Pendleton, Oregon – Snow will begin stacking up before sunrise Monday in the Blue Mountains, setting up slick highways and reduced visibility through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, a Winter Weather Advisory runs from 4 a.m. Monday through 3 p.m. Wednesday for the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and the Northwest Blue Mountains of Washington above 3,000 feet. Total snow accumulations are expected to range from 5 to 11 inches, with periods of moderate to heavy snowfall reducing visibility along exposed stretches.
High-elevation routes near Tollgate, Meacham and Ski Bluewood Resort are likely to see snow-covered pavement, especially along Interstate 84 near Meacham and mountain roads in the Umatilla National Forest.
Farther south, another advisory remains in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday through 10 p.m. Tuesday for the east slopes of the Oregon Cascades above 4,000 feet. Communities including Sisters, Sunriver and Camp Sherman could receive 5 to 10 inches, impacting Highways 20, 22 and 97.
