Blue Earth County, MN – A motorcycle chase reaching speeds of up to 160 miles per hour ended safely late Wednesday night in Blue Earth County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident began around 9:48 p.m. on October 29, when a deputy observed a motorcycle traveling 90 mph eastbound on Highway 60 west of Lake Crystal near County Road 119. Authorities say the rider accelerated and fled when a traffic stop was attempted.

According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit stretched about 10 miles and reached extreme speeds before the motorcyclist lost control in the grassy median while attempting a U-turn. Deputies took the rider into custody without further resistance.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old David James Ruter of rural Fairfax, Minnesota, was allegedly driving with a suspended license. He was booked into the Blue Earth County Jail on multiple charges.

Officials said both the squad vehicle and the motorcycle sustained minor damage during the pursuit, but no one was injured.

The sheriff’s office credited the deputy’s quick response and caution for preventing harm during the high-speed incident.
