Boonville, NY – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for Northern Oneida County until 10 a.m. Saturday, with heavy snowfall and strong winds creating dangerous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, snowfall totals between 4 and 9 inches are expected, with the highest amounts in the central and western portions of the area. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow, significantly reducing visibility.
The storm is expected to impact Friday morning and evening commutes, with snow-covered and slick roads. Strong winds may also bring down tree branches, leading to isolated power outages.
Residents should avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is required, officials recommend carrying an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water.
