Phoenix, AZ – A Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect for most of Imperial County and Yuma, reducing visibility and creating dangerous driving conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory is active now in Central Imperial County and will last until 6 p.m. PST. Southeast Imperial County and Yuma will experience blowing dust from 4 p.m. PST (5 p.m. MST) until 10 p.m. PST (11 p.m. MST).

Winds between 40-55 mph are expected, with visibility dropping below one mile. Motorists should exercise extreme caution, especially along I-8 and through the Imperial Valley. The National Weather Service advises pulling over if visibility becomes too low.

Residents should secure loose outdoor objects and avoid unnecessary travel. Blowing dust can create hazardous air quality and sudden road closures. Officials urge drivers to use headlights, slow down, and remain vigilant.
