Blount County, TN – The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a motorcyclist who may have information about a crash involving Deputy Justin Mowery on Sunday afternoon.
According to Sheriff James Lee Berrong, a sheriff’s cruiser camera recorded video of the motorcycle around 5:13 p.m. Sunday on Lane Drive in Friendsville. The deputy was responding to another crash on Miser Station Road when the motorcycle was seen traveling through a field toward U.S. Highway 321 West.
Investigators believe the rider may have witnessed events leading up to or following the deputy’s crash. “Any information, no matter how small, could be vital,” the sheriff’s office said in a public appeal posted Monday.
Authorities are asking anyone who was in the area Sunday afternoon and saw the motorcycle or recognizes the driver to contact the Investigations Unit at 865-273-5001 during business hours. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the BCSO website or via the Anonymous Crime Hotline at 865-273-5200.
The sheriff’s office released a short video clip of the motorcycle captured by the cruiser’s dash camera to assist the search.
