Western Grant, WV — A blizzard warning has been issued for Western Grant and Western Pendleton counties, with heavy snow and strong winds expected from Sunday afternoon through Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Sunday until 3 p.m. Monday, with snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches and wind gusts reaching 65 mph. Whiteout conditions could make travel dangerous, especially during the Monday morning commute.

Temperatures will drop rapidly Sunday afternoon, leading to a possible flash freeze. Visibility may be reduced to a quarter mile or less due to blowing and drifting snow.

Officials advise restricting travel to emergencies only. Drivers are encouraged to carry winter survival kits, including blankets, water, and tire chains. Strong winds could also cause damage to trees and power lines, potentially leading to power outages.

Residents should monitor road conditions by calling 511 and stay updated on weather alerts as conditions develop.
