Bismarck, ND – A developing snowstorm moving south from Saskatchewan is expected to bring light snow, wind gusts, and a sharp temperature drop to parts of North Dakota and northern Montana through Friday night.

According to Environment Canada, Saskatoon remains under a snowfall warning with up to 14 centimeters (5.5 inches) expected by Thursday night, paired with gusts reaching 60 km/h (37 mph). That system is now pushing into the U.S., but models suggest a more moderate impact for Bismarck and surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service in Bismarck forecasts a 40% chance of rain Friday morning, changing to snow by Saturday as temperatures fall into the low 30s°F. Gusts up to 23 mph from the northeast will accompany the system, leading to slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly early Saturday morning.

While no official winter advisory has been issued for Bismarck, northern counties closer to the Canadian border may see heavier snow bands and hazardous travel. Highs will drop from 61°F on Thursday to mid-30s°F over the weekend.

Drivers are urged to monitor conditions and avoid overnight travel Saturday if snow develops. North Dakotans should prepare for colder conditions and intermittent snow through early next week.
