Grand Forks, North Dakota — Blizzard conditions are expected to develop this morning across eastern North Dakota and portions of northwest Minnesota, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.

Light snowfall will end this morning as a low-pressure system moves southeast from the Langdon area toward Fargo and into central Minnesota by late morning. As the system moves away, winds will rapidly increase, producing widespread blowing snow and very cold wind chills.

Forecasters warn that north-northwest wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph, especially within the Red River Valley, will lead to near-zero visibility, particularly in open and unsheltered areas. Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate significantly through the day, with dangerous to potentially impossible travel possible.

The National Weather Service cautions that these conditions could become life-threatening, especially for anyone who becomes stranded. Blizzard warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect across much of the region, with conditions expected to worsen this morning and improve overnight.

Residents are urged to avoid travel if possible and to closely monitor weather updates as conditions evolve.
