Blacksburg, VA – After a frosty start Friday morning, much of southwest Virginia will enjoy sunny and breezy conditions this afternoon, according to the US National Weather Service Blacksburg, VA. Highs will reach the upper 50s to mid-60s in the Piedmont, while mountain areas stay cooler in the mid-40s to upper 50s.

Forecasters warn that another round of freezing temperatures and widespread frost is likely tonight into early Saturday. Overnight lows are expected to fall between 25–32°F in the mountains and 31–35°F in the Piedmont, with frost developing in many valleys and sheltered areas.

Saturday will start chilly again, but sunshine will dominate as highs rise to the upper 50s and low 60s. Conditions remain dry through the weekend as high pressure continues to control the weather pattern across the region.

Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants and outdoor equipment from frost damage and prepare for cold early mornings before warmer afternoons return.
